I recently shared a list of fun toys for a one-year-old girl based on my experience with my daughter. As a parent, I love it when my kids receive practical gifts that make our lives easier! Since I also love making lists, I decided to make a list of practical gift ideas for a one-year-old girl.

All of the items I am listing below have been extremely useful for our family over the past year! Since my daughter just turned two, I thought I would share this information with you since it is still fresh in my mind. It’s amazing how quickly I can forget things now!
In no particular order, here is the list of practical gift ideas for a one-year-old girl:
#1 – Aden by Aden + Anais Burpy Bib
These are the best bibs I have found! I love them for so many different reasons.
First of all, there is a snap in the back to keep them on your child. We have had issues with several other kinds of bibs falling off of Julia. The snap is stronger than velcro so the bib stays on better.
Second, the bib wraps around more than a regular bib and covers more area. This is important because one-year-old children are messy!
Third, the bib doubles as a burp cloth that easily stays on your shoulder because of the way it is shaped. *We didn’t actually use it as a burp cloth because Julia was done being burped by the time we started using them. I wish we had started using them earlier!
These bibs are a little more expensive than other bibs, but it is worth it in my opinion because they are amazing. We keep one in the diaper bag at all times so we have it with us when we go out to eat.
#2 – Neat Solutions Silicone Placemat
This is another item that we keep in the diaper bag at all times for when we go out to eat. The silicone placemat rolls up, so it easily fits in the diaper bag. It sticks to the table top, which is really helpful. Otherwise, Julia would probably throw her plate on the ground. Another reason I really like it is because I know it’s a clean surface for my daughter’s food. When we get home, we just toss it in the dishwasher and then put it right back in the diaper bag.
#3 – Munchkin Miracle 360 Trainer Cup
These cups are amazing for kids who are learning how to drink out of a cup. The piece at the top blocks liquid from spilling out of the cup if it gets turned upside down. However, when Julia tilts the cup and sucks, the flap opens and liquid comes out. We use the cups with handles, but they also come without handles. I should point out that if Julia throws her cup on the ground, some liquid does come out from the force of hitting the ground. But overall, these cups are very handy to have around in my opinion.
#4 – Munchkin Snack Catcher
These snack containers are great for kids who aren’t good at holding a snack container upright. The flaps keep the snacks inside of the container. When you reach into the container, the flaps bend so you can grab some food and get your hand back out easily.
I realize a lot of the practical gift ideas I have revolve around food! Kids do eat three meals a day plus snacks, so I guess that makes sense! I feel like I should throw in a non food related gift idea next. That brings me to the…
#5 – Boon Frog Pod Bath Toy Scoop
I actually wrote a whole post on the five reasons why I love the boon frog bath toy organizer, so it makes sense that it also made it onto this list. In case you missed that, I will explain my reasons here too.
First, it’s very easy to install onto the wall of the bathtub. You only need two command strips that are safe for bathrooms.
Second, it cleans up the toys in the tub quickly and easily. The body of the frog comes off of the wall and becomes a scoop.
Third, it allows the toys to dry between baths. There are holes in the scoop that allow all of the water to drain out.
Next, there are multiple storage options. A lot of small toys fit into the main scoop. We have also found that we can store cups on the frog’s fingers and books on a “shelf” between the frog and the bathtub wall.
The last reason I love the boon frog bath toy organizer is that it is cute!
For more details and pictures, be sure to check out the post here.
I hope this list is helpful for you. Of course, not all children are the same, but I thought I would share what has worked for us!
What do you think of the list? Are there any items you can’t live without? Let me know in the comments!
Have a great day!
