My son turned one year old this week! What better way to celebrate than with a Baby Shark first birthday party!
I can’t believe how fast this year has flown by. It seems like just yesterday that we were bringing our baby home from the hospital! We decided to throw our son a Baby Shark first birthday party to celebrate!
BABY SHARK FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY
My favorite decorations from the party were by far the Baby Shark cupcake toppers! I will describe the steps I followed to make them in case you want to make something similar. I will also share pictures of some of the other decorations we used at the party.
BABY SHARK CUPCAKE TOPPERS
I made Baby Shark cupcake toppers for the cupcakes we had at the birthday party. And they were very easy to make!
I began by searching for free images of the Shark family online. That actually ended up being a little harder than I thought it would be! Therefore, I decided to buy some Baby Shark family images from an Etsy shop.
After I received the images, I opened a picture of each member of the Shark family in Microsoft Word. Then I changed the size of each image to 2 inches high by 2 inches wide.
When I had 2 inch by 2 inch images of Baby Shark, Mommy Shark, Daddy Shark, Grandma Shark, and Grandpa Shark, I made copies of the images. I decided to go with 6 of each shark for a total of 30 images.
Then I printed out all of the sharks and cut them out in circle shapes. Then, to make them more durable, I taped each of them to a cardstock circle. This also made them look prettier.
The last steps were to tape them to toothpicks and put them on the cupcakes!
I am very happy with the way the cupcake toppers turned out!

OTHER BABY SHARK BIRTHDAY PARTY DECOR
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BANNER
Since I recently got a Cricut machine, a HAPPY BIRTHDAY banner seemed like the perfect first project to try! I used the Cricut to cut HAPPY BIRTHDAY letters out of cardstock.
I also printed out two Baby Shark pictures to add to the banner. Then I just glued the letters and sharks to some cardstock, punched some holes, and hung it on the fireplace.
ONE BANNER
Since the birthday party was for a one-year-old, I made a ONE banner to match the HAPPY BIRTHDAY banner.
We hung this behind my son’s highchair. It made a nice backdrop for pictures for when he ate his birthday cupcake!
Here is a nice Baby Shark cupcake image you can pin for reference later! Just click on the “P” symbol in the upper left hand corner and select a Pinterest board to pin to.

Have a great day!
